The Great Wave, Animated

An animated redrawing of Katsushika Hokusai's woodblock print The Great Wave off Kanagawa (c. 1831). The wave rolls in from the left, rears up to the pose of the print above three fishing boats and a distant Mount Fuji, then breaks: the lip plunges, the water rolls into itself along a golden spiral, and foam and spray burst across the sea. The loop repeats every few seconds. The scene is drawn procedurally in the browser with WebGL and fills the whole screen on any device.
